Rates for Natural Gas
The prices of natural gas in Georgia vary according to the demand for gas and supply. The cost of natural gas will decrease when there is more gas being produced and used. Prices tend to increase as the production decreases and the usage increases.
SCANA Energy, formerly Scana Corporation is licensed to provide natural gas and electric services in Georgia. The company was selected by the Georgia Public Service Commission as natural gas marketer in June 2002. Since the time it has been reappointed every two years to be a regulated supplier of electric and natural gas in Georgia.
Group 1 Customers
Group 1 customers with low income and credit problems have access to special rates and a reduced security deposit. The customers can apply through their local community action agencies.
Fixed Rate Plan Customer Agreement
You must agree to use a certain amount of gas each period of billing to be eligible for a fixed rate plan. You may receive an initial bill that is shorter billing cycle than the normal. You will be charged $50 if you decide to cancel a fixed-rate plan prior to when the end of the term.
Exit fees are a standard practice for some suppliers, so be certain to review your terms and conditions prior to making any changes.
Group 2 Customers
SCANA Energy offers a Group 2 program, a competition-based marketing program that provides natural gas supply at reduced costs to customers who are eligible for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. This helps to lower the price of gas and reduce carbon emissions for these customers.
Please note that you must meet the requirements for credit to be eligible for this offer. This offer cannot be combined with other offers and cannot be transferred.
This offer is only available for a short period of time and is not guaranteed to be extended. If you want to withdraw from the program before the period is over you will be required to pay an exit fee and any remaining balance due.
In addition, you must continue to adhere to all other obligations of this agreement. You must be on top of your payments and have a valid bank account or credit card, and only use the service for the purpose allowed by this agreement.
Arbitration Procedures
All disputes between you and scana energy must be resolved in binding arbitration before a neutral third party. This agreement allows for arbitration with American Arbitration Association. If the AAA will not serve as the arbitration body, the parties must mutually choose a substitute organization.
If you do not agree to this arbitration clause, you have the right to make a complaint to the Georgia Public Service Commission. The Commission will examine your complaint and decide on the best solution to settle it according to the applicable rules.
